The Society of Construction Law’s (SCL) Delay and Disruption Protocol, 2nd Edition (2017) has become a widely recognised reference across the construction industry, extending well beyond contracts and claims practitioners.
In a similar spirit, on 7 October 2026, the Institute of Construction Claims Practitioners (ICCP) launched the Claims Management Protocol, 1st Edition.
The new Protocol aims to establish a practical, structured and contract-neutral approach to the preparation, presentation, assessment and resolution of construction claims, benefiting both claimants and respondents.
I hope this new publication receives the same level of industry engagement and recognition as the SCL Protocol. More importantly, I hope it contributes to better claims management, fairer assessments and the resolution of disagreements at project level before they escalate into formal disputes.
